CNU has an annual regional economic impact that is more than $112 million.
The CNU campus has undergone a physical transformation with $500 million worth of construction projects completed in recent years. A new library and a new student center are the two newest facilities that are enhancing the CNU learning environment. An additional $500 million in construction projects are underway or planned including academic homes for programs in the liberal arts, integrated science, business, leadership, mathematics, physics, and computer science and engineering.
Admission applications have exploded in recent years, making CNU one of Virginia’s most selective liberal arts universities in Virginia.
Record numbers of CNU students from many different disciplines are participating in study abroad programs. Many students are enriching their academic experience through intensive research projects, internships, engagement in service learning projects, and participating in the CNU President’s Leadership Program, and CNU Honors program.
The intellectual life of CNU is being enhanced with the development of academic centers in areas such as economics, public policy, environmental education, and service and civic engagement.
Ninety percent of CNU faculty members hold a Ph.D. or highest degree in their field. Among our faculty are pioneering researchers in computer science, engineering and biology; business faculty with extensive real-world experience; Virginia Outstanding Faculty Award winners; NASA Public Service Award winners; and Fulbright Scholars.
U.S. News and World Report in its America’s Best Colleges 2009 survey included CNU as a top 10 “Up and Coming” liberal arts school.
- Five economics majors achieved an impressive feat by competing at the national level in the Federal Reserve 2007 College Fed Challenge.
- A CNU team took first-place in a national direct marketing competition, the prestigious Leonard J. Raymond College Gold ECHO. The same team also received the Collegiate Marketing Award for Excellence and Innovation (MAXI), a regional contest CNU had won the previous three years.
