The University of Mary Washington (UMW), with a total enrollment of nearly 5,000, features colleges of business, education and arts and sciences, and three campuses, including a residential campus in Fredericksburg, Va., a second one in nearby Stafford and a third under construction in Dahlgren, Va., which will be a center of development of educational and research partnerships between the Navy, higher education institutions and the region’s employers. Solidly grounded in the liberal arts tradition, students in all three colleges have the opportunity to work directly with professors to achieve their academic and career goals. The UMW experience is based on a culture of honor, individual recognition, and dedication to community and global service, and the university places great value on diversity within its student body.
The undergraduate program provides a well-rounded liberal arts and sciences education, offering the opportunity to pursue individual or collaborative research projects. Supportive faculty and student research funds make UMW’s undergraduate research program one of the most ambitious in the nation. At the graduate and professional levels, students benefit from the real-world experience of accessible faculty who are masters in their respective professions. Here, most students hold full-time jobs, so classes are scheduled in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate busy schedules. |
