More than 78,000 students are enrolled in the state's numerous private institutions of higher education, which have achieved national acclaim and have areas of studies lending great value to companies across the state. In the 2006-07 academic year, Virginia’s private four-year non-profit institutions awarded almost 15,000 degrees and diplomas.
