COLLEGE DESCRIPTION:
Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) is located in Weyers Cave in the northwestern part of the Commonwealth and serves the central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, including the cities of Staunton, Waynesboro, and Harrisonburg, and the counties of Augusta, Highland, and Rockingham.

CURRENT INDUSTRY TRAINING PROGRAMS:
The College has approximately 65 industry training programs, with new initiatives developed regularly.

Examples are: Microsoft Office products; Training for various industries including Manufacturing and Warehousing; Workplace Communications; Effective Customer Service; Coaching and Motivation; Training on New Equipment; Supervisory Training; Phlebotomy and Clinical Medical Assistant Programs (both in partnership with Boston Reed College); Basic Contractor Licensing Course; Relicensing Courses for Tradesmen (Plumbing, Electrician, Gas-fitter, HVAC); Energy Conservation/Sustainable Technologies.


CURRENT INDUSTRIES SERVED:
BRCC’s division of Workforce Services and Continuing Education (WSCE) provides educational, training, and consulting services to address existing and emerging workforce development needs of area employers. The WSCE team works with area employers to conduct comprehensive needs assessments to help organizations identify immediate as well as long-range training goals. 

Recognizing that each organization is unique, WSCE specializes in providing customized training in an extensive range of topics and tailors the training to meet the needs of employers and their workforce. Training programs feature flexible scheduling and convenient locations. The WSCE division also offers pre-employment assessment and training and consulting services for area employers.

Industries served include various types of manufacturing and packaging including a variety of food products, beverages, electronics, and fibers; warehousing and distribution; transportation; electronics and telecommunications; mechanical contractors; healthcare; local and state government agencies.

WSCE also works in cooperation with the Small Business Administration and James Madison University to provide counseling and training services for aspiring and existing small business owners through the Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center which has offices at JMU and BRCC’s Augusta Center at Augusta Health.

Computer instruction and study labs totaling more than 272 PCs

Also, a library, online resources, and the Robert E. Plecker Workforce Center, a state-of-the art training and meeting facility
