The Commonwealth of Virginia values transparency and provides online tools for the public to see what state government is spending and where those dollars are going. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) has been a part of this effort to keep the taxpayer informed. VEDP is one of several state entities that provide economic development incentives to qualifying new or expanding businesses under programs that have been created by the General Assembly. The reports below are provided in searchable PDF format showing the companies and projects that have been approved by VEDP for incentive grants and the progress that these companies have made against their targets where available.
The reports for each VEDP incentive grant program provide information on which companies received incentive approvals, the amount of the incentive, the committed levels of new jobs, capital investment, and average annual wages. The reports indicate which projects are considered “within their performance period” (i.e., projects are currently being implemented with future performance targets that do not yet apply) those that are “post-performance” (i.e., projects have reached their “performance date” where actual performance is compared to established targets). Furthermore, the reports show which companies are still in the process of implementing their project, those that reached their targets, and those that did not, as well as information on extensions granted and repayments (i.e., clawbacks) required of and made by grant recipients. (Note that, with the exception of the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund, VEDP’s incentive grants are distributed in the post-performance period only after actual performance has been achieved and verified.) Where possible, this information is also reported in aggregate for each incentive program administered by VEDP.
We hope this information will be of benefit to you in assessing the status and performance of VEDP’s incentive grant programs and of each project that has received an incentive grant through VEDP.
