Virginia Ranks as a Top State to Make a Living

Business Insider released its list of best and worst states to make a living in 2016. Not surprisingly, Virginia was ranked third in the nation for best states. The Commonwealth was the only East Coast state to make the top 10.

Rankings are based on average wages, state tax rates, cost of living, unemployment rates and incidents of workplace injuries. Virginia’s cost of living index of 94.5 was just above number one Wyoming’s 92.8 though much lower than Washington’s 106. The Commonwealth also boasted one of the lowest unemployment rates at just 4 percent.
