Power Systems International Creates 64 New Jobs In Rockbridge County
-Governor Warner announces relocation decision-

RICHMOND - Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Power Systems International, Inc., a manufacturer of mobile power generating systems for the military, will relocate from New York to Rockbridge County. The company will create 64 new jobs through a $2.5 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with West Virginia and Tennessee for the project.

“Power Systems International’s decision to locate their facility in Virginia highlights the positive business climate in the Commonwealth and, specifically, Rockbridge County," Governor Warner said. "This manufacturing company will provide excellent job opportunities for the people of this region.”

Power Systems International manufactures mobile power generating systems designed for military use. This move to Virginia allows the company to be located near Bea Maurer, Inc., a manufacturer of rapidly deployable soft shelters used in conjunction with their power generators. Bea Maurer, Inc. is headquartered in Fairfield, Virginia. Power Systems International will purchase a 30,000-square-foot building in the Natural Bridge Industrial Park and begin operations in April 2002.

“The availability of a suitable building, the existence of significant technical talent in HVAC and related fields, and the opportunity to reduce manufacturing costs made Virginia and the Rockbridge area a logical choice,” said Power Systems International President Louis Zak. “I am most appreciative of the assistance provided by Governor Warner and Rockbridge County.”

Governor Warner approved a $50,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Rockbridge County with the project. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Rockbridge County and The Rockbridge Partnership assisted the company with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services.
