Interstate Worldwide Relocation, a relocation management company, will create 30 new jobs and invest $1.2 million in its Springfield expansion.
“These two corporations demonstrate the success of existing Virginia companies,” said Governor Gilmore. “I am pleased that the Commonwealth’s award-winning workforce services program will assist both firms with their growth.”
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership and the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority assisted both companies with their expansion decisions. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services to both firms.
Daston Corporation has been based in Virginia since its founding in 1991. As a minority and woman-owned company, it has experienced steady growth providing information technology professional services in the commercial sector. Expansion into the federal government IT markets is fueling its current growth with the doubling of company revenues reflecting success with this strategy. To accommodate the growth, Daston is implementing its expansion plans by establishing a new corporate headquarters in McLean, Virginia.
According to Daston’s CEO Muriel Sarmadi, “the density of federal government opportunities, the availability of a trained high-technology workforce and the business friendly atmosphere of Northern Virginia made the choice of headquarters location much easier.”
Headquartered in Springfield, Virginia, Interstate Worldwide Relocation comprises a worldwide group of relocation, logistics and transportation management companies, specializing in providing relocation and mobility advisory services to individual, government and corporate clients. Founded in 1943 and today a woman-owned business, the Interstate Service Group represents a multi-million dollar enterprise, employing more than 300 people and operating a fleet of approximately 300 vehicles.
“Interstate proudly heralds our 58-year history in the area, with almost 20 years at our Springfield headquarters location,” states Bud Morrissette, Chief Operating Officer for Interstate Worldwide Relocation and grandson of Interstate’s founder. “We value our position in the Northern Virginia community, and have found it to be extraordinarily friendly to business. The excellent quality of life and Northern Virginia’s position as a world business center make it a true asset to any company located here.”
“This is great news for Fairfax County and Virginia,” said Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Joshua N. Lief. “We are delighted that these two respected companies representing very different industries have chosen to remain and grow in the Commonwealth’s positive business climate.”
