Governor Gilmore Announces 25 New Jobs In Virginia Enterprise Zone
-V&S Bristol Galvanizing invests $2.5 million in Washington County -
RICHMOND - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that V&S Bristol Galvanizing, LLC will locate a galvanizing plant at the Bristol-Washington County Industrial Park in Washington County. The Washington County operation will employ 25 people and result in a $2.5 million private investment.
“V&S Galvanizing is a leader and innovator in the industry of hot dip galvanizing,” said Governor Gilmore. “I am pleased to see that V&S recognizes and will benefit from the Commonwealth’s strategic location, skilled labor force and high quality of life.”
V&S operates six galvanizing facilities in the United States, featuring service to small fabricators and companies known worldwide. The Virginia facility will allow the company to better serve its primary customer base in the Southeastern U.S. Virginia successfully competed with Tennessee for this project.
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Mount Rogers Regional Partnership and the Washington County Industrial Development Authority assisted V&S Bristol Galvanizing with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services. The company also is eligible for tax credits based on their location in an Enterprise Zone.
“The support and cooperation from county and state leaders was a major factor in our decision,” said V&S Bristol Galvanizing President John Moody. “Their assistance in site selection, training services and tax credits were invaluable.”
“We are pleased to see 25 quality jobs moving into the Washington County Enterprise Zone,” said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal. “V&S Galvanizing is a welcome addition to Virginia’s industrial base.”
